Alderwoman pushes for smoking ban in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS | An alderwoman in St. Louis wants to ban smoking in all restaurants and businesses.

Lyda Krewson says she hopes the bill she plans to introduce will at least get dialogue started in the city. She wants the St. Louis smoking ban to happen in conjunction with similar bans proposed in St. Louis County and in St. Charles.

Many business owners say they're against the proposal. They worry the ban would hurt business. But some who already have voluntary smoking restrictions support it.

Krewson says her goal is to protect workers from second-hand smoke.
