Fort Riley getting new commanding general

FORT RILEY, Kan. | A new general will soon be leading the Army's 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley.

His name is Maj. Gen. Vincent Brooks. He has been serving as the deputy commanding general for the Army's III Corps and Fort Hood, Texas.

Brooks will assume command of the division on April 15 from Brig. Gen. Perry Wiggins, who will return to duty as deputy division commander for maneuver. Wiggins became division commander in July 2008.

Brooks served in Iraq from June 2006 to December 2007.

The 1st Infantry Division has more than 15,000 soldiers assigned to Fort Riley in northeast Kansas.
