JEFFERSON CITY | A western Missouri trial judge and attorneys from Lee's Summit and Columbia are nominated to fill one of three vacancies on the state's Kansas City-based appeals court.
The finalists for the first vacancy are Judge Jacqueline A. Cook, of Belton; Mark D. Pfeiffer, of Columbia; and Cynthia L. Reams Martin, of Lee's Summit.
Cook was first elected judge in 2000. Pfeiffer is a shareholder in a mid-Missouri law firm. Martin was a finalist for a spot on the same appeals court in 2001, but then-Gov. Bob Holden selected Jackson County Judge Lisa White Hardwick instead.
A special nominating commission picked the three finalists Friday, and Gov. Jay Nixon will select one for the court.
