Mizzou climbs to No. 8 in coaches poll

Missouri jumped to No. 8 in the USA Today coaches poll, while the Tigers’ and Kansas’ positions in the Associated Poll remained the same.

Mizzou is 11th and Kansas 15th in the Associated Press poll. The Jayhawks also are 15th in USA Today’s poll.

The teams will carry those rankings into Sunday’s Border War at Lawrence.

Oklahoma dropped a spot to No. 3 in both polls after losing to Texas on Saturday.

Pittsburgh is the new No. 1. The Panthers were fourth, but their victory over top-ranked Connecticut, plus losses by the Sooners and North Carolina allowed them to regain the top spot they held earlier this season.

The top five in both polls: Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Oklahoma, North Carolina and Memphis.

Texas returned to the top 25, ranking 25th in the AP poll and 24th on the coaches list.
