Interstate 435 down to two lanes at Roe Avenue in Overland Park

Be forewarned Interstate 435 drivers.

I-435 will be down to two lanes in both directions at Roe Avenue in Overland Park starting at 9 this morning.

The highway has to be narrowed, so workers can install a safety fence on the Roe Avenue Bridge. Roe Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction at that location.

The I-435 lanes will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays until Feb. 23.

The Roe Avenue closures will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and also will last until Feb. 23.

Drivers on I-435 will still be be able to use the Nall and Roe interchanges, officials said.

Plan for commuting delays since this section of I-435 is heavily traveled and is a primary commuting corridor between Johnson County and south Kansas City.

Roughly 135,000 vehicles a day use this stretch of I-435. The closure, of course, depends on good weather.
