Former Rockhurst running back Drew Temple quits Mizzou

COLUMBIA | Redshirt freshman Drew Temple, a running back out of Rockhurst High School, quit the Missouri football team on Saturday.

The departure was confirmed by Tony Temple, Drew’s brother and a 1000-plus-yard rusher at Missouri in his junior and senior seasons.

Tony Temple said part of the reason his brother left MU was because of an altercation he had with a roommate several months ago. But a bigger part of it was uncertainty on playing time next season.

"It’s hard for him to sit," Tony said. "He wants to know he can play."

Drew Temple received no assurances he would fit into the playing rotation for next season. The Tigers return top two running backs Derrick Washington and De'Vion Moore.

"It’s a lot of things," Tony Temple said. "He needs to decide what he wants to do."
