St. Louis couple shot in drive-by shooting

ST. LOUIS | The Illinois State Police say a woman was killed and her husband critically wounded in a drive-by shooting on the Poplar Street Bridge.

Twenty-three-year-old Shannon Federick of St. Louis died.

Federick, her husband and another passenger were westbound on the bridge, which connects Illinois and Missouri, at about 3:20 a.m. Sunday when shots were fired.

Afterward, the husband drove to St. Louis Police Headquarters downtown for help.

The victims were transported to a hospital.

The husband remains in critical condition.
