The Royals avoided arbitration cases with two more players on Tuesday, agreeing to terms with catcher John Buck and right-handed reliever Joel Peralta just before the sides were to exchange figures.
Buck, 28, hit .224 with 48 RBIs in 109 games last year. He’s a .234 career hitter and the Royals have indicated he’ll be the No. 2 catcher this season behind Miguel Olivo. He'll make $2.9 million next year.
Peralta, 32, was 1-2 with a 5.98 ERA in 40 games last year. He'll make $640,000.
That makes only four players remaining with cases: Brian Bannister, Zack Greinke, Mike Jacobs and Mark Teahen. The Royals have not gone to arbitration with any player since Dayton Moore took over as general manager.
