TOPEKA | Kansas Lottery revenues are down 4 percent so far this fiscal year.
Lottery Executive Director Ed Van Petten said Wednesday that the agency received nearly $118.5 million between July 1, 2008, and Saturday. It received $123.6 million for the same period a year ago. That's a decrease of $5.1 million.
Van Petten said the biggest revenue drop was in the multistate Powerball. Revenues for the state from that dropped $2.1 million, from $22.4 million to $20.3 million.
Van Petten said the troubled economy was a factor in the decrease. He said people have less disposable income and are spending less on entertainment.
