MU's Lyons suspended for Wednesday's game

Multiple traffic violations have led to the indefinite suspension of Leo Lyons from the Missouri basketball team, according to a statement from Coach Mike Anderson released on Monday.

And that, Anderson said later in the day, means MU’s No. 2 scorer will not play against Colorado at Mizzou Arena on Wednesday night.

“I’m going to indefinitely suspend Leo as we investigate the events,” Anderson said.

Lyons was stopped by Columbia police near Grindstone Parkway and Rock Quarry Road at 11:28 p.m. Sunday. He could not provide proof of insurance, and did not have his lights on. Police discovered an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for an unpaid fine for a previous traffic violation.

“The theme here is responsibility,” Anderson said. “Leo failed to meet his responsibilities as a driver, and it led him to this unfortunate situation.
