It’s won’t be rush hour, but nevertheless drivers are being warned to stay away from U.S. 69 on Saturday if it’s at all possible.
The highway, a major north-south artery though Johnson County, will be down to one lane between 119th Street and 135th Street between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The road is being narrowed, so work crews and construct a new bridge at 132nd Street.
Even though it’s just the weekend, drivers can easily expect significant delays on this stretch of highway, which carries between 50,000 and 70,000 cars every day.
Southbound drivers might exit at College Boulevard, go east to Antioch Road and then south to 135th Street where they can again pick up U.S. 69.
