President leaves KC after raising more than $400k for the Kansas GOP

President Bush has left the Kansas City area after raising more than $400,000 for the Kansas GOP and a congressional candidate.

Several hundred people crowded into a white tent at a swank home just south of Johnson County in Bucyrus for a closed door fundraiser.

Bush did not speak to reporters. But he was raising money for state senator Nick Jordan who is hoping to challenge Dennis Moore for Ks 3rd district Congressional seat. Jordan said about the President's visit: "It's excellent."

The fundraiser is being held at the home of Dalton Hermes, a yard and landscape magnate. The president expects to raise more than $400,000 for Jordan and other Kansas Republicans.

Earlier, Bush gave a volunteer service award to Ashley Knight, a 25-year-old dental student at UMKC.

At the New Century Airport Bush shook hands and posed for photos with Bravo Company 7-158 aviation regiment of the Army Reserve. After that, he boarded the plane, which just lifted off at 3:50 p.m.
