Missouri opens NCAA Tournament play Friday at Coral Gables, Fla., where the Tigers will take on Mississippi.
Missouri, which finished fourth in the Big 12, is a second seed and the Rebels the No. 3 seed in the regional that also includes host Miami and Bethune-Cookman.
The winners of the double-elimination regionals advance to the following week’s super regional round, which are best-of-three series to determine the eight teams for the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
The 64-team field announced Monday includes 16 regional sites. Three Big 12 schools are hosts: Nebraska, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.
The Cowboys’ regional includes Wichita State.
Notably absent from this year’s field is two-time defending champion Oregon State. The Beavers finished the season with a 28-24 record.
