Democrat Kay Barnes ranks as the second-best funded challenger to a congressional incumbent anywhere in the country, Congressional Politics reports.
Barnes, who's going after Republican Sam Graves in Missouri's 6th District, had $954,000 on hand at the end of March. That total put her just behind Jim Himes, a ecticut Democrat, who had $1.1 million in the bank in a bid to knock out veteran GOP incumbent Christopher Shays.
Himes ranked first nationally among best-funded challengers.
In fact, Democrats comprise nine of the 10 most cash-rich challengers to incumbents of the opposite party, according to CQ Politics.
BTW, Graves had $1.1 million ready to spend, based on the first-quarter report.
