Broadway legend Chita Rivera, who was to have performed tonight at Kansas City Repertory Theatre’s annual fundraiser, will be unable to present her one-woman show after experiencing vertigo in rehearsals, according to Rep officials.
Laura Muir, communications director, said that after Rivera experienced dizziness she was taken to a doctor who told her she would be unable to perform. No further medical details were immediately available.
J. Kent Barnhart, executive director of Quality Hill Playhouse, agreed to perform the playhouse’s current production, “Musical of Musicals: The Musical,” in place of Rivera.
“We owe a huge debt to Kent Barnhart,” Muir said.
