On the afternoon that senior Richard Roby became Colorado’s all-time leading scorer, he also ends his collegiate career.
The No. 5-seeded Oklahoma Sooners defeated No. 12-seeded Colorado 54-49 Friday afternoon in the Big 12 men’s quarterfinals. Roby scored a game-high 18 points and surpassed Donnie Boyce (1991-1995) as the top scorer in the program’s history with 2,001 points.
Oklahoma (22-10) led the entire game although Colorado had trimmed the deficit to two points in the final seconds.
Colorado sophomore Dwight Throne II hit a three-pointer to pull the Buffaloes to 51-49 with 30 seconds remaining but Oklahoma’s Tony Crocker and Austin Johnson combined to make three free throws to end the rally.
