President Bush in Kansas City

President Bush presented the President's Volunteer Service Award to Samuel Turner Sr., of Leawood Thursday night after arriving at Kansas City International Airport. Turner is CEO of Shawnee Mission Medical Center and he was was honored for his work with the American Heart Association.

With President Bush in town through today, expect traffic snarls around the Country Club Plaza and Crown Center this morning and delays in downtown and the Northland around lunchtime.

The president plans to sign a proclamation in honor of American Heart Month at 8:35 a.m. today at the Intercontinental Kansas City at the Plaza hotel, then participate in a 9 a.m. breakfast with business leaders at a location that has not been announced.

He will then head to Hallmark Cards at Crown Center for a 10:20 a.m. tour, followed by a 10:55 a.m. statement on the economy.

Bush will then travel to a private residence in Parkville to raise money for U.S. Rep. Sam Graves of Missouri. That will begin at 12:20 p.m.
