K-State tops Rider in men's hoops tourney

ORLANDO, Fla. | Junior Andre Gilbert had a career afternoon for Kansas State.

Gilbert scored 22 points, helping No. 18 K-State beat Rider 82-69 in the fourth-place game of the Old Spice Classic at the Milk House.

K-State, 5-1, also got 19 from Jacob Pullen, 14 from Bill Walker and 13 from Michael Beasley. For Gilbert, his previous high was 17 when he played for South Dakota State against Manhattan.

The Wildcats’ biggest lead got to 17 in the second half. Rider, 3-3, got within four late. Jason Thompson scored 24 for the Broncs.
