Kansas junior guard Brandon Rush, playing in his second game since coming back from torn ACL surgery, finally caught fire from beyond the arc.
In a 30-second span, Rush hit back-to-back 3-pointers from the same spot on the floor to give KU a 20-2 lead. Rush would later miss his other two attempts, but the makes were a good sign for the Jayhawks’ top scorer from last season.
* It was a bad day for Northern Arizona guard Josh Wilson, who came in averaging 7.5 assists per game. Through one half, he had one assist and five turnovers.
* Kansas senior center Sasha Kaun set the tone for KU’s great defensive first half with two blocks in the game’s first minute.
