Sophomore guard Sherron Collins led the Jayhawks with 12 points, four assists and three steals. Sixth-man Darnell Jackson contributed 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 from the free-throw line.
Kansas struggled defensively in the first half of its first regular-season game, allowing Louisiana-Monroe to shoot 57 percent, including 6-of-12 from three. Louisiana-Monroe guard Tony Hooper led all scorers with 13 points.
