LAWRENCE | Apparently Kansas coach Mark Mangino is getting tired of people questioning his defense because of one bad outing against Nebraska last Saturday.
The Jayhawks gave up 39 points and were admittedly caught off guard by the Cornhuskers’ decision to pass the ball just about every play. Since the game, Mangino has been asked frequently if he’s concerned by his defense’s performance. After 16 minutes of his weekly gathering with the media on Tuesday afternoon, he’d just about had enough.
“You know,” Mangino said, “our defense has played well all year, and you keep asking about our defense. I think you think we have some issues, and you’re going to keep raising that question. I don’t think we do. We’re going to play a really explosive offensive team, and we’re not going to do anything special for the defense that we wouldn’t do for the offense or the special teams.”
Oklahoma State will be the biggest test yet for KU’s defense and therefore will give the Jayhawks a chance to put an end to any concerns brought about by the Nebraska game.
