Voters deciding schools issue, other ballot measures

Today’s the day voters weigh in on which school district — Kansas City or Independence — will control seven Kansas City district schools in western Independence and Sugar Creek.

That may be the headliner, but it's not the only significant issue on the ballot. Polls will close at 7 p.m.

Kansas City voters are deciding whether to continue a 1-cent sales tax for infrastructure.

Lee’s Summit is putting 11 questions to voters — six for charter revisions, four for capital-improvement bond issues totaling $25 million and one for an annexation.

Local issues also are on the ballot in Greenwood, Pleasant Valley and Kearney.

No major elections are slated on the Kansas side.
