Chiefs trail 7-0 after first quarter

First quarter

Min _ Adrian Peterson 11 run (Ryan Longwell kick); 6 plays, 50 yards, 3:18 drive time, 10:02 remaining.

The Chiefs’ defense might have drvoured Rex Grossman and the Bears last week, but were no match for Kelly Holcomb and the Vikings on Minnesota’s first possession. Peterson might be the quickest back in the league. Ty Law was in position to make a tackle on his TD run, but never got close. Peterson ran right around him. Holcomb’s 10-yard pass to Sidney Rice on third and 8 from the Chiefs’ 48 was the key play of the drive . . . Offensively, the Chiefs were exactly like last week in Chicago. They went three plays and punt on each of their first three possessions. To a sarcastic cheer, the Chiefs picked up their initial first down on the last play of the period.
