A man suspected of burglarizing a residence was shot and killed this morning by a man who owned the property, police said.
The name of the victim has not been released and the shooting remains under investigation, police said.
The shooting was reported at approximately 12:40 a.m., when officers were called to a residence located in the 6100 block of Indiana Avenue.
When officers arrived, the owner of the residence said he arrived and heard a noise in the basement. He retrieved a gun and as he began walk down stairs to the basement, an intruder person lunged at him.

In an effort to protect himself, the property owner shot the person. Officers then found a white male, who is believed to be in his 40’s, deceased in the basement.
Police said they believed the victim was caught while burglarizing the residence. No one else was in the residence at the time of the shooting, police said.
