TOPEKA | Jefferson County officials have delayed a decision regarding hosting an annual music and camping festival.
County commissioners decided Monday to wait a week before deciding whether the Wakarusa Music Festival can move from Clinton Lake in Douglas County to a site near the Circle S Ranch in Jefferson County.
Commissioners said they needed more time to consider whether the county's roads, sheriff's department and other infrastructure can handle the three-day camping and music festival. The event typically has drawn between 10,000 and 20,000 people.
Last year, the commission rejected a request to host the event on a 2-1 vote, but one of those dissenters has indicated he's willing to give the idea another look.
