TOPEKA | Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is seeking help from the federal government to help 10 counties recover from flooding in September.
Sebelius has sent a letter to President Bush, seeking federal assistance to help the counties repair damaged infrastructure. The damage from the Sept. 11-17 flooding exceeded $3.7 million.
The request covers Anderson, Butler, Chase, Cowley, Greenwood, Harper, Harvey, Russell, Sedgwick and Sumner counties.
Sebelius is seeking relief under a program in which the federal government covers at least 75 percent of the cost of removing debris, repairing infrastructure and taking emergency measures to protect it.
