Fort Leonard Wood soldier charged with murder

FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. | A soldier is accused of killing the wife of another soldier at Fort Leonard Wood.

Twenty-six-year-old Spc. Jermaine Johnson was charged Monday with seven counts, including premeditated murder, in the death of 23-year-old Myria Silva. The other charges include assault, adultery, kidnapping and obstructing justice.

The military has jurisdiction of the case. Fort officials said Tuesday that Silva's body was found on or about Oct. 14 in Webster County. The post did not release details about how Silva died.

Her husband, Pfc. Benjamin Silva, was serving in Iraq when his wife died.

Johnson, an Army reservist with the 7223 Medical Support Detachment 10 from Mobile, Ala., was a health care specialist at Fort Leonard Wood's hospital. He is being held at Fort Knox in Kentucky.
