Wizards striker Claudio Lopez was named MLS Player of the Week for his performance in Kansas City's 3-2 win over San Jose.
Lopez factored in all three Wizards goals in a game vital to the club's playoff chances.
Lopez started his own scoring play in the 18th minute in an exchange with teammate Abe Thompson that gave the Wizards a 1-0 lead. It was Lopez's fifth goal of the season.
After San Jose tied the game in the 20th minute, Lopez assisted on the Wizards' second goal by Dave Arnaud. With the match tied, Lopez' corner kick during stoppage time was converted into the game-winning goal by Herculez Gomez.
