Olathe woman sentenced for embezzling from Lincoln hotel

LINCOLN, Neb. | A Kansas woman has been sentenced to three years probation for embezzling more than $13,000 from a Lincoln hotel.

Melinda Sipes-Bell of Olathe was also ordered to pay $13,000 in restitution and sentenced to 90 days in jail at the discretion of the court.

The 40-year-old was found guilty in August of felony theft for taking more than $13,700 from Travelodge.

Her attorney says she is working as a general manager of a hotel in Overland Park and should be able to pay the restitution. He says his client is at a low risk to re-offend.
