KCK man pleads guilty to using Internet to find boys

A Kansas City, Kan., man has pleaded guilty to one federal count of transporting a minor across state lines for sex.

U.S. Attorney Eric Melgren said Thursday that 41-year-old Timothy Kessler of Kansas City, Kan., admitted that he used a Web site to find teenage boys for sex. The FBI launched an investigation of Kessler in 2003.

Local police had learned that Kessler persuaded a boy from Blue Springs to have sex with another man. In a chat room, Kessler told the boy he was a photographer and could help him start a modeling career.

The FBI says that in 2003 Kessler drove to Springfield, Mo., to pick up a 15-year-old boy he met at the Web site and used the same ruse to gain his trust.

At sentencing Jan. 5, Kessler faces a maximum 15 years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine.
