State representative pleads not guilty, resigns House seat

JEFFERSON CITY | State Rep. Scott Muschany, a St. Louis County Republican, resigned his seat yesterday after pleading not guilty in Cole County court to felony sexual assault charges.

The resignation came a day before the legislature's annual veto session and amidst several committee hearings that brought lawmakers back to the Capitol. The Joint Committee on Legislative Research, of which Muschany was chairman, met at 8:30 this morning without him.
