August 06, 2008 05:00 AM

Southbound travelers on I-29 are in deep trouble tonight when the highway is closed overnight tonight and tomorrow night for emergency shoulder repairs.

The highway’s southbound lanes will be closed near Kansas City International Airport south of Mexico City Avenue from 8 tonight until 6 Thursday morning. The closure will be repeated at the same times Thursday night and Friday morning.

Missouri highway officials are encouraging drivers to take I-435 to the Ferrelview exit, where they can take Missouri Route D, otherwise known as Cookingham Drive, west back to I-29.
