The Chiefs and top draft pick Glenn Dorsey have agreed to contract terms, and the team expects him to arrive at training camp today.
Dorsey's new contract is for six years but he can void the final season. Maximum value is $51 million. About $23 million of it is guaranteed.
The fifth pick in the draft, the All-American from LSU will immediately step in as a starting defensive tackle.
"He’s excited. His bags were packed; he’s ready to go," said Carl Peterson, Chiefs president. "He’s anxious to get here. And he needs to be here. But he really hasn’t missed a great deal. I think he’ll fit in nicely."

Tight end Michael Merritt, a seventh-round choice, is the Chiefs’ only remaining unsigned draft pick. Merritt is in River Falls but cannot practice because he’s recovering from off-season leg surgery. He will sign when he’s ready to practice.
