I-35 drivers will need a dose of patience this week when the interstate is narrowed to one lane in both directions near the Olathe-Lenexa boundary, starting at 7 tonight.
The road will be reduced to one lane at I-435 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. every day this week. The weekend work will start at 7 p.m. Friday and last until 5 a.m. Monday. You can expect serious backups because the highway carries more than 100,000 vehicles a day in that location.
This will be no short-term closure, either. The $2.5 million repaving project, which covers about a mile, is expected to last until late summer.
