Former Shawnee Mission Northwest running back Ryan Torain was one of three draft picks who signed contracts with the Denver Broncos today.
In addition to Torain, a fifth-round pick from Arizona State, the Broncos signed another fifth-round pick, defensive tackle Carlton Powell of Virginia Tech, and linebacker Spencer Larsen, a sixth-rounder from Arizona.
Torain averaged 93.8 rushing yards per game and 5.4 yards per carry in two seasons at Arizona State University after transferring from Butler Community College In 19 career games (14 starts) at Arizona State, Torain rushed 333 times for 1,782 yards (5.4 avg.) with 12 touchdowns and caught 25 passes for 305 yards (12.2 avg.) with five scores.
