Officials investigating cause of early morning KCK fire

An early morning fire caused about $25,000 in damage to a northeast Kansas City, Kan., house

The fire broke out about 2:50 a.m. today in the kitchen area of a single story wood-frame house at 1340 Cleveland Ave.

When firefighters arrived, flames shot out of the rear of structure and thick smoke poured from the windows and doors. No one was home at the time and the fire was extinguished in about 17 minutes after fire crews arrived.
