Sophie, a 6-year-old cocker/poodle mix, is available for adoption from Pals Animal Rescue. She is a delightful companion that loves to be in your lap or near you when she can. She is house- and crate-trained and does well with other dogs and with children. She listens well and has basic obedience commands down pat. She’s mature enough not to be destructive in the home when you are gone. She would do well with another dog, but she does prefer her humans to other canines.
Smokey, one of two shih tzus in the Pals program, is a loving dog that loves to play fetch and have his belly rubbed. He’s good with other dogs and with people but would prefer a home without cats. He is around 3 years old, is house trained and is just waiting to meet his forever family.
Meet Sophie, Smokey and other Pals dogs from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at PetSmart at 3615 N. Rock Road. For information and to see available dogs and cats, go to www.palsrescue.org or call 316-990-3647.
Kisses, a 1-year-old female pit bull terrier mix, is available from Kansas Humane Society.
I am sweeter than a hunny bun. And from the looks of my waistline I may have eaten a few of those, too. I’m what the shelter staff like to call “pleasantly plump.” But what can I say? I’m just so sweet, people feel the need to spoil me. And I’m more than happy to oblige. I’ll take all the lovin’ I can get. That’s how I got my name, actually, because I love to give kisses. Once I plant one on ya, you won’t be able to resist my charms. So come see me today at the Kansas Humane Society.
Also available from KHS:
▪ Betsy, 7-month-old female Labrador retriever
Hey there. Hi there. Hi. Hi. Hi. I’m just so excited to meet you, I can hardly stand it. I’m a playful little gal just looking to find my furever family. The staff here tell me I’m like a little ball of energy because I’m always ready to play games like fetch and tug-of-war. Sometimes I get a little overzealous, but I can’t help it. I’m just a puppy. It’d be great if I had a family to show me the ropes and help me grow into a big girl. Won’t you give me a chance? Pretty please?
▪ Danny Zuko, 2-year-old male pit bull terrier mix
I may not be as good looking as John Travolta, but I’m just as cool. Plus I need someone to spend those Summer Nights with. I came to the shelter as a stray, but I picked up a few tricks on my journey. I showed the staff here that I can “sit” and “shake” like a pro. So let me show you my skills. Soon we’ll be wearing matching jackets and singing our way through life.
▪ Heaven, 3-year-old female cat, domestic shorthair mix
Hello there. Just thought I’d pop by and introduce myself. I’m Heaven. I’m very friendly, you see, and I’m not one to lounge around too much. I know how to work a room. I just love meeting new people. Maybe you could come by the shelter and we could get to know each other. I’d really like that. Trust me, I’ll be your best friend in no time.
▪ Clint, rat
As you can probably tell from my picture, I’m from a big family. But hey, that’s OK. That just means I’ve got lots of friends. And that makes me feel pretty popular. It’s been nice sharing a home with my brothers and sisters here at the shelter, but some of us are ready to strike out on a new adventure. We may be small but we’re big on fun. Maybe you could take some of us home with you.
