Twenty horses seized by the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office on charges of neglect and animal cruelty will be available for adoption starting today.
The horses, seized in 2010 and 2011 in coordination with Sedgwick County Animal Control, are in the care of Hope in the Valley Equine Rescue and Sanctuary, 9025 N. Broadway in Valley Center.
Many of the horses have been retrained and rehabilitated. They are healthy and need a home with someone who will value them for what they do.
Hope in the Valley will hold an adoption event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today

Humane Society signing kids up for Critter Camp
The Kansas Humane Society is accepting enrollments for its Summer 2011 Critter Camp.
Critter Camp, with sessions through July, invites children ages 7 to 12 to attend educational sessions that include interaction with animals and spending a day in a veterinary clinic.
New this summer, campers can unleash their inner artist with the "Painting With Puppies" program. Kids and pets will work together to create unique works of art using paint, paws and their inspiration.
Morning and afternoon sessions are available. Fees range from $100 to $125 a week and include a free Critter Camp T-shirt.

Dog clubs to hold conformation, obedience matches
The Wichita Kennel Club and Wichita Dog Training Club are teaming up to put on a conformation and obedience fun match on Saturday, June 18. Both matches will be held at the WKC building, 3448 N. Emporia.
The conformation match is open to all AKC breeds, AKC Miscellaneous Class breeds and Foundation Stock Service breeds. Entry fees are $8 in advance; $10 day of match. Judging starts at 10 a.m. The obedience match starts at 9:30 a.m. and is open to all dogs.
