Humane Society enrolling kids in 'Critter Camp'

The Kansas Humane Society is enrolling children ages 7 to 12 for its Critter Camp sessions.

The camp is a summer program that covers topics such as caring for pets, pet health, overpopulation and animal jobs. Each camp is one week, with either morning or afternoon sessions, and features games, arts and crafts and animal interaction.

Garage sale today to help Big Dogs rescue

Big Dogs Huge Paws, an organization dedicated to rescuing giant-breed dogs, will have a garage sale today to benefit the rescue.

Hours are 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The location is 830 N. Mission.

Family Dog to offer therapy dog classes

Family Dog Training & Behavioral Center at Wag'en Tail Ranch, 69th Street North and Hoover Road, is offering therapy dog certification classes.

A practice session will be at 6:30 p.m. June 11. The test will be on June 18, with registration starting at 6 p.m.

Dogs must be at least 1 year old and current on rabies, DHPPV and Bordetella vaccinations.

CGC, TDI tests, kids' classes at All Paws

All Paws Pet Center will offer Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Dog International tests June 12 at the store, 2110 N. Maize Road.

The store will also offer a new class this summer called KIDS N K9S, for children ages 8 to 14 and their family dogs. Children will be taught how to approach dogs properly, handle and care for their dogs and teach their dogs basic commands.

The KIDS N K9S class will be offered at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays for four weeks, starting June 8, or at 9:30 a.m. Thursdays starting June 10. Classes will last 45 minutes, and parents must stay in attendance in the observation area.
