Santa Paws posing for pics with pets

Santa Paws is in town, posing for photos with pets and helping to raise money for animal welfare groups.

Today, Santa will be at PetSmart east, 3615 N. Rock Road, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with proceeds going to Kansas K-9 ResQ; and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at All Paws Pet Center, 2250 N. Rock Road, Suite 110, and 1444 N. Maize Road, with proceeds going to Pals Animal Rescue.

On Dec. 11, Santa will be at Andover Veterinary Clinic, 517 W. Central in Andover, from 1 to 3 p.m., with proceeds benefiting the Kansas Humane Society; and at PetSmart east from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with proceeds going to Pals.

On Dec. 11 and 12, he'll be at PetSmart west, 533 S. Tracy, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with proceeds benefiting Kansas K-9 ResQ.

Home tours, candy sale to benefit CCHS

A Christmas Candy Land homes tour and candy sale today and Sunday in Winfield will benefit the Cowley County Humane Society.

Between 2 and 6 p.m. today and 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday, visitors can tour the homes of Jim and Laurie Snyder, 2105 W. 33rd Ave., and Victor and Tina Walker, 1109 Mansfield St., and sample candies that will be available for a donation at Josephine's in downtown Winfield.

Tickets are $5, available at the homes and at Josephine's, 118 E. Ninth St. in Winfield. For more information, call 620-221-1698.

Christmas at stables a fundraiser for LAPP

Christmas at C-Arrow Stables, a fundraiser for Lifeline Animal Placement and Protection, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 12 at 5911 N. Maize Road.

The cost is $15 for ages 16 and older and $10 for ages 3 to 15. Tickets may be purchased at the gate.

Events include a petting zoo, pony rides, a live Nativity scene, a visit with Santa, a hot-dog roast, hot chocolate and cookies.

A wine tasting from 6 to 8 p.m. that includes gourmet hors d'oeuvres is $25 per person ($35 including all the above activities).

Proceeds will benefit Lifeline Animal Placement and Protection, a Wichita no-kill animal shelter.
