Seven gardens, some of them on large woody lots and backing up to creeks, are open to visitors today on Derby's annual garden tour.
The tour is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and tickets are $5 a person to see all seven gardens. Tickets will be for sale at each of the gardens: 1133 E. Waters Edge Court, 1012 E. Kristin Court, 1020 Bel Arbor Circle, 105 N. Brookforest, 930 Beau Jardin, 1684 E. Tiara Pines and 712 Wahoo Circle.
The fifth annual tour is sponsored by the city of Derby and the Parks & Urban Forestry Board.
The Marion garden tour will be June 25, and the Kansas Pond Society tour will be July 9 and 10.

Containers are correctly watered when you see them drain. Leave a gap of an inch between the soil line and the container rim to ease and speed watering. Apply water in the morning so plants are fully hydrated by the afternoon, the hottest part of the day. Try to avoid wetting leaves.
