Two Midtown houses designed by William Sternberg are open for tours this weekend.
The Aley House at 1505 N. Fairview and the Sternberg House at 1065 N. Waco —both in the Queen Anne style — will be open for tours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Sternberg was a contractor and builder who came to Wichita from New York state in 1877. The Sternberg House was built in 1886, the Aley in 1889.
The tour will include old-time music, food and lemonade, and information about historic building techniques. Tickets, which cover entrance to both houses, are $10 for adults and $8 for people 65 and older and 18 and younger. The tickets will be available at the door. Part of the proceeds will go to Old Cowtown Museum.
