Kansas: You've been there.
Sounds like a "Been There" mug may be in order.
This month, Starbucks unveiled a new series of collectible mugs with a unique design for all 50 states.
It's called the "Been There" series, similar to the coffee shop's popular "You Are Here" mug collection. It's unclear just yet whether the "Been There" mugs will replace the popular "You Are Here" mug series.
A message with Starbucks' press office was not immediately returned Tuesday.
The mug costs $12.95 and is available at Wichita-area Starbucks locations. Local Starbucks employees said Tuesday they've been a hot product since arriving earlier this week.
The mug itself, designed to look hand-drawn, has an outdoor/agricultural theme — featuring bison, sunflowers, a tractor, a windmill, a cow bell, wheat and corn, hay bales and a lesser prairie chicken for good measure. It also features kayakers on Kaw River, a depiction of Rock City, and a basketball hoop.
They certainly have more character than the "You Are Here" mugs of yesteryear.
Wichita never had a "You Are Here" design, though cities such as Kansas City, Denver and St. Louis all had one — as well as the state of Oklahoma.
If you want to become a Starbucks mug collector, the fan site www.starbucks-mugs.com, features images of nearly all of the "Been There" mugs (as well as old "You Are Here" designs).
