This year your summer wardrobe can be as changeable as the Kansas weather. You have multiple choices for the right look for every mood and occasion.

Check your closet for favorites from seasons past because chances are a few of them are a trend again this season. Gingham, white eyelet, crochet, fringe, mid-length hemlines, denim and floral prints and bohemian looks are a few examples.

The fun part is to mix it all up, and that includes seasonal colors.

Cool colors for hot weather range from powdery pastels to vivid brights. Corals to orange, mint to lime green, pale aqua to turquoise and butter to sunshine yellow are in the mix.

Comfortable caftans, culottes and breezy palazzo pants may bring back lots of memories. Add jumpsuits in prints and solids to the list.

For a touch of romance, designers such as Vera Wang, Marchesa and Dolce & Gabbana added delicate floral prints in gossamer fabrics to their collections.

But denim, the sturdy, all-American fabric, is showing up in everything from trench coats to the essential jean jacket to casual bottoms – short shorts to ankle pants.

The relaxed attitude of summer means it’s time to turn your imagination loose. Combine brights in eye-catching combos or go head-to-toe in white for a cool, crisp look. And don’t forget the impact the right accessories can make.

When it comes to jewelry, think big, bold, unusual and colorful. Wide cuffs, long necklaces with interesting pendants, sparkling colored stones on dangling earrings and statement rings are where it’s at this summer.

If you think a floral print dress is not for you, try on a pair of floral print sandals or sling-backs. Don’t feel comfortable in bright colors? Stick to neutrals but pick shoes in a bright color. Choose the heel height that works for you. High heels are always available, but mid, chunky heels, wedges and kitten heels are here for summer, as are the flattest of flat sandals.

Can’t give up your favorite combo of black and white? You don’t need to, but add bright accessories for a fresh take on a classic color scheme. Hot pink, bright yellow, turquoise and citron are good choices.

It’s summer, the season to dress cool, comfortable and confident.

WHITE OUTFIT
