If you're a fan of floral prints, you're surely in petal power heaven this spring. The blossom boom isn't restricted to just printed fabrics. The flowers are also all over jewelry, hats, shoes and more. "This looks more like a flower shop than a showroom," was the reaction from Linda Miller, fashion editor at The Oklahoman, when she entered the spring 2010 market in Dallas.
One of the best-selling items at Dustee's Fashion Accessories in NewMarket Square, at Maize and 21st, is a handbag with attached flowers, says manager April Powell. "We've had to reorder twice and may have to again," she said.
Diana Schmidt, owner of K-Lane's, 600 S. Tyler, says floral prints have been a big hit for spring in everything from T-shirts to dresses.
There's also a floral flood on prom dresses, bridesmaid gowns, swimwear, children's wear and sleepwear.
If you're not a fan of solid bold prints, choose a solid color with only one or two flowers on the print. Or choose a floral accessory. If nothing else, take part in the trend by choosing one of the many garments trimmed with fabric flowers.
