Maize students win at National History Day
Two students from Maize South Middle School have taken first placein the National History Day competition held at the University of Maryland College Park. Kara Kolar and Gwyneth Schuler won first place on July 7 in the Junior Group Documentary with their entry, "Sweetest Diplomacy of All"about candy dropped to German children during the Berlin airlift. About a half-million students nationally compete in History Day competitions at the local and state levels. States send the top two winners in each category to compete at the national competition.
