Third location of this Kansas-based restaurant chain opens in Wichita next week

The Mokas Coffee & Eatery chain will add its third Wichita restaurant in one week, said Jason Ingermanson, who owns Mokas’ parent company, JRI Hospitality.

Opening day for the new Mokas at 3851 N. Ridge Road is scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, he said. It will operate out of a new building that sits north of the intersection of 37th North and Ridge.

Mokas, which serves coffee, espresso drinks, smoothies, pastries, sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads, has opened two Wichita restaurants over the past four years. The first one has been operating at 143 N. McLean since February 2022, and the second opened in September 2024 at the Veranda Development, 1344 N. Veranda Drive, near 13th and Greenwich.

The fourth Wichita Mokas also has been announced, and although an exact address hasn’t been chosen, Ingermanson said the restaurant will open near the corner of Central and Oliver next spring.

And more Mokas restaurants are planned for the Wichita area: Ingermanson has said that the company intends to open another restaurant each year for the next three years, both in the city limits and in Wichita-adjacent communities. The company recently began franchising and in the fall signed Christian Coleman, son of Wichita businessman Sheldon Coleman, to a six-unit agreement to build Mokas stores in the Kansas City metro, Lawrence and Topeka markets.

Mokas, which started as a single coffee shop in Salina in 2005, has grown into a chain that has locations not only in Wichita and Salina but also in Colby and in Phoenix and Glendale, Arizona.

The new Mokas at 37th and Ridge will have a drive-through window and will have the same hours as Wichita’s other two Mokas: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
