Wichita’s newest restaurant serving chicken tenders opens this week with familiar owners
Thursday is opening day for the west side’s newest restaurant — which will double as the latest place in Wichita to get fried chicken tenders.
Owner Johnny Chandra and some partners are opening a dual concept restaurant called Hanebe (pronounced “honeybee”) and Crispy & Co. Its doors will open at 10 a.m. at 10330 W. Central, which is where Planet Sub operated until it closed in late May.
Half of the new restaurant’s menu will be Hanebe’s, which features acai bowls, smoothies, milk teas and fresh-squeezed juices. The other half will be devoted to Crispy & Co’s fried chicken tenders, wings and popcorn chicken, which come with sauce choices such as Ranch, soy garlic, sweet chili and gochujang. The menu also features rice bowls topped with proteins like bulgogi, spicy pork, chicken katsu and chicken teriyaki. (See the full menu below.)
Customers will order from both menus at the same register.
Starting on Thursday, the restaurant’s hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
Chandra and his partners also are the owners of Tuptim Thai at 2121 N. Rock Road, of Tuptim Thai Express at 1317 N. Maize Road, and of Mirai Ramen & Sushi at 6524 E. 37th St. North.
They’ve also already tested the Hanebe/Crispy & Co. concept in Topeka, having opened one a year ago at 2855 SW Wanamaker Road.
