Wine slushies are a thing, and they’ve arrived in Wichita

Wine night with your girlfriends just got even more chill.

Cocoa Dolce, the chocolate shop turned weekend hangout at 2000 N. Rock Road, has just introduced a new line of blended drinks, and one in particular caught my attention.

The wine slushie.

The Bradley Fair shop, which is particularly buzzing with after-dinner dessert-and-drink seekers on Friday and Saturday nights, blends up ice with wine, corn syrup and lemonade. You can opt for a red wine slushie, made with a red blend, or a white wine slushie, made with a Moscato.

The result is a not-too-sweet, crunchy, grown-up treat.

“We’ve just been experimenting, and we all really like it here,” said one of the shop’s managers, Ally Witt. “We just decided to try it out and see how the public likes it, and we’ve had a great response so far.”

Wine is not the only drink the shop is turning slushie. Customers also can order blended mocha, latte, milkshake, lemonade, hot chocolate – even a Red Bull.

Wine slushies are $6.45 apiece, and I can attest they pair nicely with a spot of Cocoa Dolce chocolate.

The shop’s hours are 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and noon to 7 p.m. Sundays.
