Last August, Luciano Mottola’s food truck – a companion business to his popular Italian restaurant in Mulvane – was catering an event.

It started to rain hard, and then, it started to flood. His food truck – and much of Mulvane – was quickly submerged.

“We’ll be out of action for a while,” said a Facebook post from Aug. 20 that featured pictures of the destruction. “Give us some time, though. We’ll be back.”

Today is the day that the truck, called Strada by Luciano’s, is back. Mottola acquired a new food truck, which was once a shuttle bus in Arkansas, and will debut it at lunchtime today at the today at the ICT Pop-Up Urban Park at 121 E. Douglas. On Wednesday, it’ll be at the Wichita State Food Truck Plaza. And on Saturday, it’ll be at the Bartlett Arboretum. Mottola said the truck will be in regular rotation in Wichita all summer.

The new truck has been wrapped in bright green and yellow colors with a big logo. It’ll be serving a menu of meat sauce with pasta, cheesy bow tie pasta, roast beef sandwiches and its famous salad cone, which is served in a vessel made of edible, baked Parmesan cheese.

Follow the food truck’s Facebook page to find out where it will be this summer.
